Leather Suitcases.... ** sigh ** ....!

Hello Vintage Enthusiastes & Keepers of The Past....!

As always I hope this post finds you all WELL & HAPPY....!

I've had this post in my draft file for a while & while I'm ITCHING to share my BIG NEWS with you, I'm a little under the weather so I thought I'd set this one free into the blogisphere & come back with my news when I'm feeling more like my old self....

Today I thought I'd share with you my LOVE of Vintage Leather Suitcases....!

I have vintage suitcases stashed ALL over the place....All styles & sizes ranging from the BEAUTIES you see below, to brown cardboard Globites, hard creamy canvas ones with stripes right through to retro vinyl overnight bags....I think my FAVES though would have to be my leather ones....There is just somethin' SERIOUSLY SEXY about their battered exteriors that I can relate to....hahahahaha....

This SWEETIE is a recent Hard Rubbish find....Isn't he GORGEOUS....  :o)
This HANDSOME fella was also a HR find from a couple of years ago....!
This AWESOME piece is a French suitcase & was a gift from Mr SVJ last Christmas....!
This little fella was a gift from a vendor at the market who wouldn't take any money for it 'cause the latches wouldn't catch....??
And this precious guy was also found in the HR around a year ago....!
Together....They form a tower of DELICIOUSNESS that makes my heart SING whenever my eyes rest upon them....!!!!!
Each one tells a story of hopes & dreams & distant lands once travelled....The scuffs & stains whisper to me of another life lived....I LOVE the way the old leather smells....I ADORE each & every one & could NEVER imagine parting with ANY of them....!!!!!

Do you have a leather suitcase collection....?  I'd LOVE to see them if you do....?

Wherever you are, whatever you're doing....I hope you're having a FAB day....!

Cheers for now,
Tamarah :o)

  8. Wow! What a fantastic collection. I have an old cardboard suitcase and a wood trunk that my hubby rescued from the HR council pick up. Only problem I have with them is the old musty smell. How do you get rid of yours? I want to store linens in them, but haven't yet cos I don't my linens to smell like the cases.

  13. First I have to tell you I call myself the "keeper of the cr@p"! That said...do I own suitcases? Does the caged bird sing? Seriously, I love the leather ones and I also look for cream or white ones. Cat Daddy is a fool for luggage. One Warrenton we had a stack of about 25 and it was amazing!
My favorite set I sold...boo hoo! It was a matching leather set made by Hartmann from the 50's. Some things are just too good to keep...ya know?
Hope you get to feeling better toot sweet!

  14. oh yes I sure do have lots of them. Actually that one with the JAC on the lid, I used to have one just like that with dodgy latches. Hmmmm, I think we may well be swapping vintage treasures via other people lol!
Have a few ideas as to what your big news is, I await with baited breath (or send me an email woman and let me know earlier!!!)

  18. Happy Friday- I am no longer blogging myself (as you might well know) but I am following a hand full of blogs (you are at the top of my list) so in answer to your question although I do not collect old suitcases I do have one which came from my Auntie who passed over many years ago. It is from the early 1900s and she used it when she went on all her holidays so it is a special item in my heart.

  19. Pack up your troubles (and your random stuff).. in your old suitcases. They are spectacular photographed and I bet even better to gaze upon. Mostly I love all the tones of brown on brown.

Thanks for visiting me and leaving me a lovely, rewarding trail of comment. Felt like Hansel... or maybe Gretel....

  20. Those are just beautiful! My parents used to have some that looked a lot like your middle suitcase. I wonder what happened to them? I have one old suitcase~it's kind of a rough linen with a fake croc skin inset on both sides. I'm always looking for more.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

  23. I too have a vintage suitcase collection but of the striped variety. I counted 8 of them around the house today. I use a couple of them in the bedroom to give the too-short nightstands a little height. Now what's this about BIG NEWS? :-)

But meanwhile, I've been awarded with a Stylish Blogger Award and I'm passing it on to you. Please check out my most recent post to see about accepting and passing it on. Totally up to you if you choose to participate, or not, this post was hard and alot of work, took me all weekend to get my thoughts together! As Uncle Ben in Spiderman says, "With great power, comes great responsibility." Ha!

Anyway, just wanted you to know, in case you didn't already, I really enjoy your blog.
