A FEW Thrifted Treasures to see me through a RAINY day....!

Howdy Fellow Recyclers....!

I hope as always this post finds you well & happy....!  Following the heat over the weekend Melbourne has had two days of rain....Alas....As MUCH as we need it, it's DEVASTATING for those of us who like to 'shop' the Hard Rubbish as perfectly WONDERFUL pieces tend to become soggy messes when it rains....**sigh**....Nevertheless....I did manage to snag this BEAUTIFUL painting yesterday....She was sitting under a tree on top of a box & was PERFECTLY dry when I spied her....**HAPPY DANCE in the middle of the street**....!!!!!!

This is by far & away the OLDEST painting I've ever found....PRE Victorian at a guess....! 

She has a couple of tears which hemming tape at the back will fix enough for me to enjoy her....LUCKILY, these MINOR (to me) blemishes are nowhere near her beautiful face & torso....!!! 

....Breathtaking no....!! 

I'm getting a head start on Mr SVJ's Christmas present with this book....He's a Master Cabinet Maker so I'm hoping the 'amateur' reference won't offend him as he DOES think quite highly of his skills....!!

The calendar tea towel was a LUCKY find this morning....It's the FIRST one I've found 'in the wild' in almost 10 years....KEEPER....!! 

Love....LOVE....L-O-V-E vintage bias, ric-rak & hem tape & ALWAYS snap it up when it crosses my path....! 

SPUNKY red Faigen leather clutch & Aussie Oroton purse....Straight to the POOL ROOM with these...hahahahaha....**wink**....! 

Did a little happy JIG in the Op-Shop when I spied this linen tea towel with union jack motif....!!

Well that it's from me for the day....I'm hoping to get around tonight to visit some of my FAVE blogs....FINGERS CROSSED....!

Just another Sunday at the Market....!

Shabby Vintage Junk & Friends at The Vintage Shed

Hey Vintage Lovers everywhere....!

Well I hope you've all had a FABULOUS week....After spending ALMOST 4 days at home trying to regain some sort of order (Casa SVJ was a MESS....!!!!!) when the alarm went off this morning I was itching to get out....!!

Loaded up with some YUMMY smalls, I hit the road & headed straight to The Vintage Shed where I am now foofing my booth....!

Vintage Tins really are such PRETTY things

Morning Treasure Hunters near & far....!

Yesterday while TRAPPED in my bedroom I allowed myself to become distracted by my BEAUTIFUL collection of vintage tins....

Twas a PLEASANT distraction whiling away the minutes touching, marvelling & remembering from whence they came....Most of them were sourced via eBay in the US, while a few have been lucky finds here in Oz....

There are 15 pictured here though I do have a GORGEOUS pink Huntley & Palmer duck tin in storage....Each & every one makes me SMILE out loud & are filled with all manner of tiny Treasures....!

This last pic here is from one of my FAVE Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic books, Sumptuous Settings & Other Lovely Things (pg 116)....I see we share a fondness for some of the same tins....!


Do you have a collection of tins....? I'd LOVE to see them if you do.... You might have some that I haven't seen before....!!!

Help....I'm trapped in my bedroom....!!

Morning Junk Friends everywhere....!!!!!

With my office out of commission due to a water leak we're in the process of 'negotiating' the repair of, storage has become an issue here at Casa Du SVJ....!

So much so that yesterday I decided to devote a few hours tidying up the wardrobes in my bedroom to make some room....Alas, one thing led to another....You know how it is....And I literally ended up spending the WHOLE dang day in here....!!

When the alarm went off this morning at 6am I thought to myself that another two hours should do it but hey....It took me almost two hours just to refold my vintage bed sheets....!!!!!








Well....At least I'm surrounded by things that make me SMILE out loud.... Vintage sheets & pillowcases.... My terrier collection (vintage + Terriers Of Mandsfield made by my Friend Wendy), architectural salvage & dare I say, my vintage cat - Baxter.... Though as I'm determined for him to make it to 32.... He's not VERY vintage at all....!

Well.... Back to it I guess....Hope you're all enjoying a FABULOUS week....!
